#ProudlyaDG: Rana Elhusseini talks being a basketball legend, Nike FlyKnits & putting Dearborn on the map

In S1E4, Dearborn baller, Edinboro commit and future WNBA star Rana Elhusseini shares some of her experiences being the only Arab and Muslim on her AAU basketball team, and gearing up to be the only Arab/Muslim on her college basketball team at Edinboro University.

So much of Rana’s ambition to excel in basketball comes from being a Dearborn Girl with something to prove (in her words, with “a chip on her shoulder”). Rana will blow you away with her maturity and wisdom as she thinks about what these next several years will be for her. The lessons from this episode most definitely apply on and off the court.

Rana plans to use her education to pour back into the community that made her. She is deeply passionate about giving back to the youth through basketball training, and is considering pursuing a career in physical therapy (after she retires from her WNBA basketball career of course.)
